Picture your day starting at the project site, reviewing drawings and blueprints with your crew, and mapping out how today's guardrail systems and impact attenuators will go in—precisely, safely, and on schedule. As the Highway Guardrail Installation Superintendent, you orchestrate the work: you brief the team, confirm traffic control set-ups, align with state and city inspection teams, and ensure every post driven and terminal set meets specification.
You own the details that keep the job moving—tracking quantities, checking material usage, reviewing timecards—and you mentor your team while operating and overseeing equipment such as a pounder truck, skidsteers, and augers. Throughout the week, you compile daily and weekly foreman reports and maintain open communication with VDOT inspectors to verify compliance and progress.
