Working as an integral member of the district's multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will collaborate with educators, families, administrators, and community partners to create safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments where all students can thrive.The School Psychologist will conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations, participate in eligibility and Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings, provide consultation to educators and families, and support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) through data-based decision-making and evidence-based interventions.In addition to assessment and consultation responsibilities, the School Psychologist will provide direct psychological services to students as identified in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including counseling, behavioral interventions, social-emotional support, and other services necessary to support student achievement and well-being.The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in assessment, consultation, mental health, behavioral supports, crisis response, and systems-level problem solving while contributing to the district's commitment to continuous improvement and student success.Assessment and EvaluationConduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations using a variety of cognitive, academic, behavioral, adaptive, social-emotional, and developmental assessment tools.Interpret evaluation results and prepare clear, legally compliant, and educationally meaningful reports that translate assessment findings into actionable recommendations for families and educational teams.Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations, reevaluations, and eligibility determinations in accordance with IDEA, Section 504, Rhode Island Regulations, and district procedures.Present evaluation findings and educational recommendations to families and educational teams.Utilize assessment data to inform instructional planning, interventions, and educational programming.Assist in identifying students requiring academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports.Direct Psychological ServicesProvide direct psychological services to students as identified in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including individual and small-group counseling, behavioral interventions, consultation, and social-emotional supports.Develop measurable goals and progress-monitoring procedures for psychological services identified within IEPs.Monitor student progress and maintain documentation related to direct services and IEP implementation.Collaborate with educators and families to promote generalization of skills across educational settings.Support students' social-emotional development, resilience, self-regulation, executive functioning, and school engagement.Design, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with educators and families to support positive student outcomes.
Consultation and Student SupportConsult with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families regarding academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health concerns.Support the implementation of evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions through the district's Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).Conduct or participate in Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and collaborate with educational teams to develop, implement, and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Provide consultation regarding trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, positive behavior supports, and culturally responsive interventions.Participate in problem-solving teams and school improvement initiatives.Mental Health and Crisis ResponseSupport school-wide efforts to promote student mental health, wellness, and positive school climate.Conduct risk assessments and assist with crisis prevention, intervention, and postvention activities in accordance with district protocols.Provide consultation regarding anxiety, depression, trauma, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and other behavioral health concerns.Collaborate with community agencies and external providers, when appropriate, to support coordinated services.Serve as an active member of the district and/or school crisis response team by assisting with threat assessments, suicide risk assessments, emotional and behavioral crises, emergency response, and postvention activities in accordance with district protocols.
