We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Medical Assistant who is passionate about patient care and thrives in a growing wellness practice.
Position Summary The Medical Assistant will support the healthcare provider in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
This role includes clinical, laboratory, and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, proactive, comfortable with technology, and experienced in working independently in a fast-paced medical environment.
Bilingual candidates who speak English and Spanish are strongly preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities - Welcome patients and prepare them for examinations and treatments.
Obtain and accurately document vital signs, weight, height, medical history, medications, allergies, and reason for visit.
- Assist the provider during examinations, consultations, and in-office procedures.
- Perform venipuncture, collect laboratory specimens, and prepare specimens for processing and courier pickup.
- Administer authorized injections under the direction and supervision of the licensed provider.
- Assist with IV hydration therapy, vitamin injections,
weight-management services, hormone therapy, peptide therapy, and aesthetic procedures as permitted by training and applicable regulations.
- Prepare examination and procedure rooms before and after each patient.
- Clean and disinfect equipment and clinical areas according to infection-control standards.
- Maintain emergency supplies and assist the provider during urgent or adverse patient reactions.
- Provide patients with approved pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions.
- Contact patients regarding laboratory appointments, follow-up visits, prescription updates, and provider-approved results.
- Monitor clinical inventory and notify management when supplies or medications need to be reordered. Administrative Responsibilities
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments. - Answer telephone calls and respond to patient messages professionally.
- Assist with patient registration, intake forms, consent forms, and medical-record updates.
- Verify that required documentation is completed before treatments and procedures.
- Process prescription and pharmacy communications as directed by the provider.
- Scan, upload, organize, and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system. - Assist with payment collection, receipts, memberships, packages, and point-of-sale transactions as assigned.
- Support referrals, prior authorizations, laboratory orders, and medical-record requests.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Perform opening and closing duties and help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic environment.
Required Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent. - Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred. - Minimum of two years of medical-assistant experience preferred. - Current CPR or Basic Life Support certification. - Proficiency in obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
- Strong venipuncture and specimen-collection skills.
- Knowledge of infection prevention, OSHA standards, HIPAA requirements, and medical terminology.
- Ability to use electronic health records, email, scheduling systems, and basic office software.
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work with limited supervision.
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. - Experience in integrative medicine, functional medicine, primary care, medical weight loss, hormone replacement therapy, IV hydration, peptide therapy, regenerative medicine, or aesthetics. - Experience administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections. - Experience assisting with IV placement or IV therapy. - Experience with laboratory processing, medication inventory, and prior authorizations. - Customer-service or sales experience within a medical spa or wellness practice. - Experience creating patient education materials or supporting clinic marketing activities. Physical Requirements - Ability to stand or walk for extended periods. - Ability to bend, reach, and assist with positioning patients when necessary. - Ability to lift and carry clinical supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. - Ability to safely handle needles, laboratory specimens, medications, and medical equipment. - Ability to perform repetitive computer and documentation tasks. Schedule The schedule may include weekdays, occasional evenings, and selected Saturdays based on clinic needs. Reliable and punctual attendance is required. Compensation and Benefits Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, certifications, bilingual proficiency, and clinical skills.
