Join our dynamic team as an Independent 1099 Contractor Alternative Student Transportation Driver and play a vital role in ensuring safe, reliable, and friendly transportation for Foster care students. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for safely operating your vehicle to transport a student to and from school. Some of the routes are long distance but within Maryland area. The long distance routes within the Maryland are will pay more. Your positive attitude and excellent communication skills will help create a welcoming environment for children, families and the Agency while maintaining the highest safety standards. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in Foster children daily lives through dedicated service and care.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate your own vehicle
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure secure journeys.
- Assist students with boarding and exiting your vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with students, Agency and team members to coordinate schedules and address any concerns.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections (Must pass a Maryland State Vehicle Inspection every 6 months and report any maintenance issues promptly. Be sure that vehicle is in safe condition
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, student attendance, and safety checks in compliance with regulations.
- Foster a positive environment by demonstrating patience, kindness, and excellent behavior management skills.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Driving Experience for at least 2 years
- MUST have reliable vehicle
- MUST use your own vehicle to transport one student
- Must be willing to travel long distance within Maryland area if route is available
- Must be 30 and older
- Must pass a thorough Fingerprint Background Check (No type of Child Abuse, No Felonies, No drug charges etc)
- Clean Certified Driving Record (No DUI, No Reckless Driving, No speeding tickets, etc)
- Must be dependable
- Experience in working with children is a plus
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to pick up one student on time and drop the student off on time
- Must take the student to school in the morning and take the student home in the Afternoon
- Experience in childcare or senior care is advantageous; patience and empathy are essential qualities.
- Excellent behavior management skills to ensure student safety and well-being during transit.
