We operate a large fleet of trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and specialized construction machinery, and we're looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to help keep our fleet operating safely and efficiently.
Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on our fleet of diesel-powered trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and small equipment. This position plays a critical role in minimizing equipment downtime while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, and drivetrains.
- Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
- Repair and maintain:
- Skid steers
- Mini excavators
- Excavators
- Wheel loaders
- Forklifts
- Water trucks
- Dump trucks
- Pickup trucks
- Trailers
- Small engines and construction equipment
- Perform engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, and hydraulic repairs.
- Complete inspections and identify safety concerns before equipment returns to service.
- Utilize diagnostic software and scan tools when applicable.
- Maintain accurate repair orders and maintenance records.
- Order parts as needed and communicate repair status with the Shop Coordinator.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Assist with emergency field repairs when necessary.
- Work effectively with shop personnel, fleet management, and operations teams.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.
- Experience working on CAT, Bobcat, John Deere, Ford, Chevrolet, RAM, Peterbilt, or similar equipment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Electrical diagnostics
- Air brake systems
- Welding and fabrication (preferred)
- Ability to read service manuals and wiring diagrams.
- Experience using diagnostic software and scan tools.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
- Must have your own basic mechanic tools.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
