EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports Referee staff as they process appeals involving detailed legal issues. It helps ensure that hearings are prepared correctly and that all parties receive accurate information. As a Legal Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Hearing Preparation: Review appeal items, organize case files, and determine proper scheduling based on legal requirements

Document Handling: Process legal documents, distribute materials, and update records for hearings

Decision Support: Transcribe decisions, check documents for accuracy, and distribute final decisions to parties

Public Interaction: Respond to calls, emails, and questions while providing clear information about appeals procedures

Office Management: Maintain files, upload recordings, track case status, and prepare required paperwork

Timekeeping Duties: Review time records, enter information into systems, and correct errors to ensure accurate payment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours may be negotiable with 30-minute lunch break.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week, upon successful completion of the training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Greensburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
