Created in 1978 by the New Mexico Legislature, the Department of Cultural Affairs represents New Mexico's dedication to preserving and celebrating the cultural integrity and diversity of our state. The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies. These include 15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services. Why does the job exist?
Under the supervision of the Museum's Facilities Manager, this position will be responsible for devoting time in the Campus Operations custodial unit cleaning and disinfecting the Museum. This position will also be responsible for accurately accounting for Museum cleaning supplies. This position will work with all staff at the Museum to ensure the visitor has a seamless and enjoyable experience. The person in this position shall be willing to work with both external and internal customers to provide excellent customer service for the Museum. How does it get done?
The Custodian works around the museum to clean and disinfect areas that are used by staff and the public. Custodians recognize areas that need attention and respond quickly. This position will also be responsible for accurately accounting for Museum cleaning supplies.

Minimum Qualification
No prior experience or training required.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a museum setting with many visitors. Extensive use of cleaning supplies and cleaning tools. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and shift work. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs.
