Job Summary
We are hiring Data Center Technicians to support structured cabling installations, infrastructure hardware deployment, and data center equipment projects throughout the Columbus metro area, including Hilliard, Dublin, and New Albany, as well as national project locations. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity for individuals with foundational experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, low voltage systems, or related field work. Entry-level candidates with relevant exposure are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is willing to travel nationally, work extensive overtime as needed, and develop technical skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform structured cabling installations, including fiber and copper cable rough-in, routing, dressing, and support
- Terminate and test fiber and copper cabling systems with guidance as needed
- Rack and stack network equipment, including server installations and rack elevations
- Install infrastructure hardware such as ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, and cable support systems
- Read and follow blueprints, installation standards, and project documentation
- Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) fiber installations entering data center environments
- Receive, organize, and inventory materials and equipment
- Assemble hardware components and prepare equipment for installation
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and ensure a clean, organized work environment
- Communicate professionally with team members, project leads, and supervisors
- Travel to project sites nationwide as required
- Work overtime hours as needed to support project schedules and deadlines
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Entry-level candidates with relevant cabling, telecommunications, low voltage, construction, or technical field experience are encouraged to apply
- Previous experience in a data center or commercial structured cabling environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of fiber and copper cabling systems, termination practices, and testing procedures preferred
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel nationally for project assignments
- Availability to work extensive overtime as required
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and technical documentation
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move items up to 75 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout the duration of a shift
- Must provide and maintain basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel or composite toe work boots
