Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Sterilization Technician to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will ensure the highest standards of infection control and sterilization are maintained within the orthodontic department. Your expertise will support smooth clinical operations by preparing, sterilizing, and managing orthodontic instruments and equipment. Responsibilities
- Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize orthodontic instruments using advanced sterilization equipment following strict aseptic techniques.
- Prepare sterilized instruments for daily patient procedures, ensuring all tools meet safety and quality standards.
- Assist with maintaining infection control protocols in compliance with HIPAA regulations and OSHA standards.
- Support chairside assisting during orthodontic procedures by passing instruments efficiently while maintaining a sterile field.
- Monitor and record vital signs and medical documentation when necessary for pediatric or medically compromised patients.
- Collaborate with dental reception staff to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate medical records management using Epic or similar systems.
- Stay informed about advancements in infection control techniques, dental terminology, and anatomy knowledge relevant to orthodontics.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting, especially within orthodontics or pediatric dentistry, is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves and 3D scanners used for dental imaging.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining sterilization logs and inventory records.
