POSITION OVERVIEW
A.M. Pellak Construction is a growing design-build residential remodeling company specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, additions, and full home renovations.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, systems-driven Architectural Designer who can take projects from concept through permit-ready plans and into construction support.
This role is critical to the company’s success. You will serve as the bridge between design vision and production execution, ensuring that projects are:
- Buildable
- Code-compliant
- Clearly documented
- Aligned with budget and scope
This is not a “concept-only” design role — this is a technical, execution-focused position within a fast-paced design-build environment.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES1. Design Development & Documentation
- Develop schematic layouts based on client needs and design direction
- Produce permit-ready construction drawings, including:
- Existing plans
- Demolition plans
- Proposed plans
- Elevations
- Sections
- Details
- Ensure all drawings meet local code and permitting requirements
2. Pre-Construction Coordination
- Collaborate with Sales/Design Consultants to refine project scope
- Translate approved designs into fully developed construction sets
- Coordinate with:
- Structural engineers
- Architects (when required)
- Trade partners
- Identify potential design conflicts before construction begins
3. Field & Production Support
- Work closely with Project Managers and Lead Carpenters
- Provide clarification on plans during construction
- Assist in resolving design/build conflicts in real time
- Update drawings as needed based on field conditions
4. Systems & Process Execution
- Follow company standards for:
- File organization
- Drawing templates
- Naming conventions
- Revision tracking
- Assist in improving internal design and documentation systems over time
5. Client Interaction (When Needed)
- Participate in design review meetings
- Help present layouts and design solutions
- Clearly communicate technical details in a client-friendly way
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD (required)
- Chief Architect (preferred or willingness to learn)
- Strong understanding of:
- Residential construction methods
- Building codes (PA / IRC preferred)
- Structural basics
- Ability to produce permit-ready drawing sets independently
Experience
- 3+ years in:
- Residential design
- Architectural drafting
- Design-build environment (preferred)
