Position Overview
The Cottage School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our K–2 team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and will provide support to teachers in creating a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
This is a full-time, on-site position (180 days per school year) located at our Elementary Campus.
Essential Responsibilities
- Supervise students in non-classroom settings, including lunch, recess, field trips, and other school activities.
- Reinforce instructional concepts and adapt materials as directed to support individual student learning needs.
- Prepare classroom materials, equipment, and resources for daily instruction.
- Assist students in following classroom procedures, expectations, and behavioral guidelines.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and other required school events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a paraprofessional or in a related educational support role preferred.
- Understanding classroom practices and instructional support strategies.
- Compassionate, patient, and have a positive attitude when working with students.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Salary
$37,000–$42,000 annually, based on education and experience
