Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailer trucks equipped with tanker and refrigerated trailer systems to transport liquids and freight over the road (OTR) routes.
- Safely load, secure, and unload cargo using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or truck loading equipment, ensuring compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, adhering to DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in accordance with DOT and FMCSA standards.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to ensure safety and compliance with vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and emergency responders as needed during deliveries or in case of incidents.
- Manage delivery schedules by route driving through diverse terrains such as flatbed, tanker, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or freight carriers while ensuring timely deliveries.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on over-the-road (OTR) routes involving hazardous materials and dangerous goods handling.
- Strong knowledge of trucking regulations including DOT (Department of Transportation), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols.
- Skilled in operating various types of trailers such as refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Proficient in GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution.
- Ability to manually handle cargo loading/unloading processes safely and effectively.
- Experience with forklift operation for cargo management when necessary.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean record in commercial driving; familiar with manual transmission trucks preferred.
