Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Assistant House Manager for the PM shift to join our dynamic team. In this vital leadership role, you will oversee daily operations within our residential care environment, ensuring a safe, compassionate, and engaging atmosphere for residents. Your proactive approach will support staff, coordinate resident care, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality. Responsibilities
- Supervise and support caregiving staff during the evening shift, ensuring adherence to care plans and safety protocols
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Monitor residents’ health status by taking vital signs and reporting any concerns promptly to nursing staff or supervisors
- Support residents with memory care needs, including Alzheimer’s and dementia care strategies, to promote comfort and safety
- Support residents with mental health needs
- Ensure proper medication administration in accordance with prescribed schedules and protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized environment by overseeing cleaning routines and ensuring infection control standards are met
- Facilitate effective communication with residents’ families and coordinate with healthcare professionals as needed
- Operate manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to assist with resident transfers
- Manage emergency situations using first aid skills and CPR when necessary to ensure resident safety
- Document incidents, care activities, and shift reports accurately using electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- On call to cover staffing needs that arise
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living, nursing home, or residential care environments with a focus on senior or disability care
- Strong knowledge of ADLs assistance, medication administration, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, and behavior management techniques
- Ability to operate standard passenger cars for transportation needs when required
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring, manual handling techniques, and safe patient lifting practices
- Experience working with individuals with cognitive disabilities or developmental disabilities is highly desirable
- Certifications in CPR, first aid, medication administration, and safe patient lifting are required or preferred
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with residents’ families, team members, and healthcare providers
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as part of caregiving duties
- Prior experience in group homes or home & community care settings is advantageous
