OTR Hazmat Driver
Location: Hutchinson, Kansas
Starting Pay: $25.00/hour
Schedule
· Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday aligned with plant operations
· Ability to build and adjust delivery/travel schedules based on operational needs and customer demand
· Overtime as needed
· Limited overnight travel (typically 1–2 nights per week when required)
Position Summary
The CDL Hazmat Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation and delivery of hazardous chemicals and materials to customer locations within routes. This position operates in alignment with plant production schedules and ensures full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, PHMSA, and Hazardous Materials regulations while maintaining accurate documentation and professional customer service.
Essential Functions
· Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle
· Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
· Operate a forklift
· Load, transport, and unload hazardous materials in compliance with DOT and Hazmat regulations
· Verify product type, quantity, and shipping documents before and after delivery
· Read and follow shipping papers, maps, GPS, and route instructions
· Apply and maintain required hazmat placards
· Secure cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transport
· Maintain accurate logs, ELD entries, delivery tickets, and required documentation
· Coordinate with plant operations regarding scheduling and delivery timing
· Provide professional customer service at delivery locations
· Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of assigned vehicle and equipment
· Report incidents, accidents, or safety concerns immediately
Qualifications
· Valid Class CDL required
· Hazmat endorsements required
· Valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
· Minimum age 23 years
· At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience
· Regional or chemical transport preferred
· Clean driving record (no DUI or reckless driving within 3 years)
· No more than 2 moving violations in the past 3 years
· Must pass DOT drug and alcohol screening (pre-employment and random testing)
· Must be insurable under company policy
Physical Requirements
· Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
· Climb in and out of commercial vehicles and trailers
· Sit for extended periods while driving
· Bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in outdoor environments
Additional Requirements
· Must maintain valid CDL, Hazmat, Tanker endorsements, and DOT medical card
· Must comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations
· Must follow company policies and Drug & Alcohol program, including random testing
