POSITION SUMMARY
Strategic and hands-on leader responsible for the reliability, appearance, and environmental health of the property. This role oversees Engineering/Maintenance and Environmental Services (EVS) to deliver a safe, compliant, and guest‑ready experience 24/7. The ideal candidate is a former Chief Engineer or Maintenance leader with a deep understanding of building systems (MEP/HVAC, life safety, utilities) and proven operational leadership across EVS in a high‑traffic gaming environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides next-level guest service to internal and external guests. Demonstrates the Cedar Crossing culture in all interactions with guests and co-workers.

Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information in accordance with established procedures with company policy and state regulations.

Ensures compliance with all department and company policies, procedures, internal controls, and government regulations.

Responsible for creating and fostering an environment of support and motivation for Team Members.

Leads the hiring, training, development and supervision of Accounting/Finance team members and processes.

Build and execute the Property Operations strategy, aligning safety, uptime, cleanliness, and cost efficiency with the property’s brand and business goals.
-
Lead and develop multi‑disciplinary teams (Engineering, Housekeeping, EVS); establish standards, staffing models, SOPs, and training.
-
Champion a culture of safety, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement
-
Partner cross‑functionally with Gaming Operations, Security, Food & Beverage, and Entertainment to support the event/occupancy calendar and special projects.
-
Own the Asset Management Plan: preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for critical systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, boilers/chillers, building automation, kitchen, water/wastewater, emergency power).

Ensure life safety and code compliance: fire detection/suppression, egress, ADA, OSHA, EPA, local building and health codes; coordinate inspections and permits.

Manage energy, water, and waste programs; and utility contracts to reduce cost and carbon.

Oversee contractors and capital projects; scope, RFP, vendor selection, mobilization, QA/QC, and commissioning.

Maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS): asset registry, PM schedules, work order, inventory, and analytics.

Set and uphold rigorous cleanliness standards across casino floors, public areas, back‑of‑house, restrooms, parking areas, and event spaces.

Design staffing, shift plans, and zoning for 24/7 coverage; implement zone inspections and ATP/fluorescence audits as applicable.

Execute rapid‑response cleaning protocols for high‑traffic times, spills, biohazards, and incident support.
-
Coordinate deep‑clean cycles, carpet care, floor care, and high‑dusting schedules around operational needs.

Own department budgets, forecasting, and variance management

Negotiate and manage vendor contracts (elevators, waste, pest control, uniforms, specialty trades)

Maintain spare parts strategy and storeroom controls; implement cycle counts and min/max levels.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, local/state fire and building codes, and gaming regulatory requirements relevant to facilities.

Chair or actively participate in Safety Committee; conduct root‑cause analysis, and incident reporting.

Maintain emergency preparedness plans (power loss, water outage, severe weather, fire, flood); coordinate drills and after‑action reviews.

Translate brand standards into measurable cleanliness and condition metrics; conduct daily quality walks and executive inspections.

Partner with Guest Services to address service recovery; close the loop on cleanliness and maintenance guest feedback (internal and online).

Maintain a strong presence on the floor during peak periods.

Resolves problems that are within the position's scope of authority and recommends courses of action to resolve problems that are beyond the scope of authority to the position’s supervisor.

Keeps position supervisor informed of relevant activities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, operations, or related field desired. 7–10+ years progressive leadership in Engineering/Maintenance within hospitality, gaming, or construction/development environments; 3–5+ years managing Housekeeping/EVS or multi‑discipline operation teams. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated expertise with building systems (MEP/HVAC, BAS/BMS, electrical distribution, life safety). Strong financial acumen: budgeting, capex planning, contract management, and KPI management. Demonstrated success building and leading large teams with high service standards. Strong oral and written skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs are required. Must be able to formulate and communicate ideas and to make independent decisions.

REGULATORY AND COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to the other duties described herein, every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations:

Attend required training sessions offered by the casino.

Obtain and maintain required license(s).

Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.

Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.

Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the team member’s department.

Have knowledge of property programs to address problem gambling.
-
Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and Internal Controls.

Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management.

Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member of which they have knowledge.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Iowa Racing & Gaming Commission License (must secure and maintain licensure as a condition of employment)
Valid driver's license with a minimum of three (3) years driving experience
