Position Summary
The Human Resources Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering employee benefits programs, managing enrollments and life event changes, maintaining compliance requirements, and serving as a key resource for employee benefit questions. This role works closely with employees, insurance carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and efficient benefits operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesBenefits Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans
- Manage benefit enrollments, qualifying life events (QLEs), and employee updates
- Coordinate and support annual open enrollment activities
- Process short-term disability documentation, Medicare requests, and related benefits paperwork
- Maintain accurate employee benefits records and documentation
Billing, Reporting & Compliance
- Manage monthly insurance billing and premium reconciliations
- Prepare and submit weekly census reports
- Coordinate year-end census reporting with benefits brokers
- Support ACA tracking and reporting requirements
- Assist with Form 112 reporting and CMS Creditable Coverage disclosures
- Ensure compliance with applicable benefits regulations and reporting requirements
Employee Support
- Serve as a primary contact for employee benefits questions
- Assist employees with:
- Benefits eligibility and coverage
- Payroll deductions
- Arrears balances
- Life event changes and updates
- Communicate with insurance carriers and process benefits-related correspondence
Records & Administrative Support
- Maintain benefits documentation through scanning, filing, and document management systems
- Ensure benefit records remain accurate and up to date
- Support additional HR projects and administrative initiatives as needed
Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or a related role
- Experience supporting employee benefit programs and enrollments
- Knowledge of benefits reporting and compliance processes
