Triangle Waterworks is hiring licensed subcontract installers for whole-home water filtration, softening, and well treatment systems across the Raleigh-Durham-Cary Triangle. This is per-install contract (1099) work for licensed installers who take pride in clean, code-correct work and want steady volume.
COMPENSATION
$350-$500 per completed installation (paid per job, not hourly). The daily rate shown reflects a typical one-install day.
WHAT YOU'LL INSTALL
- Whole-house carbon and filtration systems (city water)
- Water softeners and salt-free conditioners
- Well water treatment: iron/sulfur filters, sediment filters, UV systems, and resin systems
LICENSE REQUIREMENT - READ THIS FIRST
You must hold an ACTIVE North Carolina license in your OWN business name, in one of these classifications:
- RLP (Restricted Limited Plumbing) - the classification that specifically covers water filtration, treatment, and conditioning systems, or
- P-II (Plumbing Class II - single-family detached), or
- P-I (Plumbing Class I - all building types)
You cannot work under Triangle Waterworks' license. As a 1099 subcontractor you must be licensed and listed with the NC State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors under the name you contract in. We verify every license number against the Board's records before your first job.
Note: North Carolina does not issue journeyman or master plumber licenses. Do not apply with an out-of-state journeyman card in place of an NC contractor license.
ALSO REQUIRED (non-negotiable)
- 5+ years hands-on experience installing residential water filtration/softening systems on BOTH city AND well water
- General liability insurance, minimum $1,000,000, with a certificate naming Triangle Waterworks as additional insured
- Workers' compensation coverage, or a valid NC exemption on file
- Registered business entity and a completed W-9
- Your own tools AND a truck capable of transporting equipment and filter media
- Valid driver's license and insured vehicle
- Ability to pull permits in Wake, Durham, and Johnston counties
- Willingness to wear Triangle Waterworks company apparel on every job
- Reliable scheduling - confirm assignments within 4 business hours and show up on time, on the assigned day, every time
- Comfortable working in crawlspaces and attics, and able to handle 50-80 lb salt and media bags
PREFERRED (not required)
- WQA Certified Installer (CI) designation
- NC Well Contractor Certification, if you will also service the well or pump itself
WE HIRE DETAIL-ORIENTED INSTALLERS ONLY
Every install is inspected. You will photograph every job before and after - photo documentation is required for payment, with no exceptions. Sloppy plumbing, leaks, crooked mounts, or messy job sites will not earn repeat work. You are responsible for callbacks on your own workmanship. If you cut corners, this is not the right fit.
HOW TO APPLY
In your application, list: (1) your NC license classification and license number, (2) the exact business name your license is listed under, (3) your years of water treatment install experience on city and well water, and (4) confirmation that you carry general liability insurance and have your own tools and truck. Applications that skip these four details will not be reviewed.
Pay: $350.00 - $500.00 per day
Application Question(s):
