Responsibilities
- Follow up on medical claims submitted using various billing software systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims, resolving denials, and negotiating payment arrangements with insurance companies and patients.
- Conduct detailed analysis of billing reports and spreadsheets to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, patient accounts, and collections efforts in accordance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Communicate professionally with patients, insurance providers, and healthcare providers to clarify billing issues and facilitate prompt resolution.
- Support the revenue cycle management process by coordinating with clinical staff to verify patient information and insurance details before billing.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare finance is preferable, with a strong understanding of the revenue cycle management process.
- Experience working with spreadsheets—Excel formulas and data analysis skills are essential for reporting accuracy.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations like HIPAA and industry standards for medical billing practices.
- Strong customer service skills combined with excellent phone etiquette for effective client communication.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets, perform account reconciliation, and manage collections accounts efficiently.
