Position Summary:
As a Houseman, you would be responsible for cleaning and maintaining all corridors and public areas in accordance with all housekeeping procedures, standards, safety and security. Assist Room attendants on assigned floors, to ensure hotel cleanliness, in accordance with hotel standards to achieve and exceed guest expectations.
Requirements:
- Experience in custodial, janitorial.
- Strong knowledge of The Outer Banks and surrounding areas.
- Ability to follow assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- The ability to grasp, bend and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 75 lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes and luggage.
- Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time when required.
- The ability to work well under pressure and the ability to multi-task
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to follow one or two step instructions.
- A team player and a self-starter, yet able to work independently with Shutters standards.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and demonstrated instructions.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guest, co-workers and management to their understanding.
- Ability to use simple addition/subtraction.
- The ability to effectively deal with both internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger.
- High School graduate or equivalent required. Must speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
- Always greets guests in a friendly and professional manner according to Shutters standards.
- Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
- Guest Laundry Room, wipe washer and dry down, wipe walls, sweep and mop floor.
- Uniform and personal appearance are clean, professional and in accordance with Shutters Grooming policy.
- Communicates with hotel staff to enquire about any special situations, events or problems prior to leaving at the end of the day.
- Elevator Area, wipe down vending machines, sweep and mop floors, polish stainless steel, wipe down wood trim, wipe down and pull trash can.
- Sweep and mop all walkways main building and tower building, gazebo area. Pull trash.
- Transport inventory with cleaning supplies, amenities and linens to assigned storage closets, guest rooms and position securely.
- Parking Lot sweeps. Pick up debris.
- Empty trash containers.
- Ensure pool area and bathrooms are clean and stocked.
- Listens to guest complaints or concerns and resolves their issues in a timely manner.
- Complies with company policies, procedures and Code of Ethics.
- Clean up rock gardens ensure they are all in the beds.
- Assist with stripping dirty linens from beds in rooms.
- Pull all trash and linen carts out in the am and put away at end of shift.
- Assist with laundry duties.
- Ensure lobby restrooms and lounge areas are clean.
- Ensure breakfast trash is pulled daily.
- Report any damages or maintenance problems to supervisor with location details.
- Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys and follow key control procedures.
- Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction, involve supervisor if necessary.
- Stay in assigned work Area.
- Other duties as assigned.
