Position Overview
The Inventory Control Specialist maintains accurate inventory levels across the facility by performing cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring all materials are properly tracked within the enterprise resource planning system (ERP). This role supports daily operations, improves stock accuracy, and helps prevent shrink, mislabels, and stockouts.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including root‑cause analysis.
- Maintain and update item records in the ERP (SKU setup, adjustments, transfers).
- Monitor inbound and outbound materials to ensure proper receiving, put‑away, picking, and shipping documentation.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Purchasing, and Operations teams to reconcile inventory issues.
- Track and report inventory KPIs such as accuracy rate, shrink, and count completion.
- Support audits, compliance checks, and year‑end physical inventory.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to reduce errors and improve flow.
- Ensure proper labeling, bin locations, and material identification standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle-counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Assist in inventory improvement projects.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management.
- Familiarity with WMS/ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to perform accurate counts and maintain detailed records.
- Proficiency with Excel or other data tools (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs a plus).
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment and lifting to 60 lbs. as needed.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with barcode scanning equipment or RFID systems.
- Knowledge of inventory best practices, cycle count programs, and root‑cause analysis.
- Background in manufacturing, distribution, automotive parts, or logistics.
- Ability to use a forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
- Experience in Lean six sigma a plus.
