Duties
- Prepare ingredients by chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning according to established recipes and standards
- Assist with menu planning and ensure adherence to recipe specifications for consistency and quality
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including mixers, slicers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment in compliance with food safety standards
- Support cooking processes by assembling dishes, monitoring food temperatures, and ensuring timely meal preparation
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure food safety at all times
- Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to coordinate meal prep activities and uphold high standards of hygiene and safety
Skills
- Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, including slicing, dicing, and portioning
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal assembly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen staff
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production, handling, and sanitation practices
- Previous restaurant or food industry experience is a plus; culinary experience preferred
- Proficiency in knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient prep work
- Understanding of food safety management principles to maintain compliance with health regulations
