Serviam Medical Transport provides safe, reliable, and compassionate wheelchair, stretcher, and Basic Life Support transportation services throughout Polk County and surrounding areas. Position Overview:
As a Medical Transportation Specialist, you will be responsible for safely transporting wheelchair and stretcher patients, clients and medical staff to and from medical appointments, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, dialysis centers, skilled nursing facilities, and residences. Your role is essential in providing reliable, compassionate transportation that supports patient care and enhances community health. Responsibilities
- Safely operate wheelchair and stretcher van to transport patients and clients.
- Assist passengers with mobility needs, including heavy lifting or securing wheelchairs and stretchers when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of vehicles to ensure safety and reliability.
- Communicate clearly with dispatchers, healthcare staff, and passengers to coordinate schedules and provide updates.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to ensure secure transportation at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger needs professionally and courteously throughout the trip.
- Document trips accurately in logs or digital systems for compliance and record-keeping purposes.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Previous wheelchair, stretcher, NEMT, EMS, healthcare, care giving, or patient transport experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with passengers and team members.
- Current CPR certification preferred.
- ADA wheelchair securement experience preferred.
- Defensive driving certifications preferred.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to pass Level II Background Screening.
- Ability to pass DOT Drug Screening.
- Professional appearance and personal hygiene.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
