Temple Beth Shalom Preschool is hiring an Assistant Teacher.
PreK Assistant Teacher (3-5 years):
- FULL TIME (40hrs/week): 8:30am-5:00pm
- Minimum Hourly: $18/hr starting rate
- Sick Pay, Health Insurance, Paid Time Off
Requirements:
- Attendance during all assigned hours, regardless of children present.
- Create and follow Weekly Lesson Plans
- Documentation: Collect authentic observations that can be used to assess children’s development
- Create portfolios throughout the year based on observations
- Support growth and development for all children by following the developmental recommendations that are set in place by the state using the New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines.
- Set up and maintain a classroom environment and atmosphere that encourages child-centered activities
- Ensure that the children in your care are well supervised at all times, consistent with the New Mexico licensing requirements and Accreditation standards. Must maintain ratios
- Communicate with the staff and families
- Maintain confidentiality concerning the children, families, staff and school related matters
- Satisfy all requirements of the New Mexico licensing agency and the accrediting body
- Perform COVID Safe cleaning practices as per Guidelines of the DOH and as in Staff Handbook
- Occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
- All staff are required to follow Preschool policies and Temple policies. The safety and well-being of all children at the preschool is the primary responsibility of the entire staff

- Able to handle stress, remain calm and effective when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual, or dangerous situations
- Able to switch from task to task easily without loss of efficiency or composure
