Job Description:
Perform a variety of routine and complex transportation work in driving and coordinating transportation plans in support of current construction project. 90% local, 10% out of state
Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of duties in the operation of North State Environmental, Inc. such as hauling, dumping, small equipment transports to include trailers, etc.
- May plan route to insure most economical use of time and equipment.
- Obtain road construction materials from storage yard and haul to job site.
- Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to mechanics; clean equipment.
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Maintain radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or to be dispatched to a new location
- Maintain electronic truck log according to state and federal regulations. Should there be an issue with the electronic log, complete a paper log and inform the proper office staff of the electronic.
- Keep record of equipment and materials transported.
- Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
- Maintain a valid CDL license.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
· 5+ years heavy hauling experience
· Ability to drive manual trucks
· Valid CDL License – Class A
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
- Ability to safely drive various vehicles.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
- Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization.
- Ability to travel and work away from home Monday- Friday if needed.
Pay:
$27 - $30 per hour (based on experience)
