Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with chairside assisting techniques.
- Take and develop dental x-rays using digital imaging systems such as dental x-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Dentrix , curve or Epic, ensuring accurate medical documentation and coding for billing purposes.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
- Support patient management software operations to schedule appointments, update medical records, and facilitate effective communication with patients.
- Follow clinical confidentiality policies diligently while maintaining a sterile environment through proper dental instrument processing and aseptic techniques.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, curve, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, equipment operation, and infection control practices including sterilization procedures.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while following safety protocols.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with children is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, team members, and healthcare professionals.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training in healthcare infection prevention and control is highly desirable.
