About the Role
Mishik, a contemporary Japanese restaurant in the heart of Hudson Square, is seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team. We are looking for a dedicated professional with a strong foundation in traditional Japanese cuisine and at least 2 years of professional sushi experience, including omakase service. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, precision, and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality nigiri, sashimi, maki, hand rolls, and other sushi offerings with precision and consistency.
- Execute omakase service while maintaining the highest standards of presentation and quality.
- Maintain freshness, proper storage, and rotation of all seafood and ingredients.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the sushi station at all times.
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, and minimizing product waste.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to provide a seamless dining experience.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Maintain consistency with Mishik's culinary standards and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional Sushi Chef experience required.
- Previous omakase experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine, fish butchery, and traditional sushi preparation techniques.
- Excellent knife skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and professionalism.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
