JFC Contractors is seeking a dependable, hardworking Mechanic's Assistant /Shop Helper to support our construction equipment and truck fleet. This is a physically active position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, learning about heavy equipment, and being part of a small construction team.
The ideal candidate has basic mechanical ability, is comfortable using hand tools, enjoys learning, and isn't afraid to work in all types of weather.
Responsiblities
- Assist the head mechanic with preventive maintenance
- Perform oil and filter changes
- Grease construction equipment
- Check engine oil, hydraulic oil, collant, and other fluids
- Fuel equipment correctly
- Wash and clean trucks and heavy equipment
- Organize the shop and yard
- Pick up parts and supplies
- Load and unload materials
- Assist field crew when needed
- Help prepare equipment for the next day's work
- Maintain a clean, safe work area
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Dependable transportation
- Able to lift 75 pounds
- Comfortable working outdoors year round
- Basic knowledge of hand tools
- Positive attitude
- Able to follow directions
- Reliable attendance
Preferred Experience (Huge Plus)
- Diesel experience
- Auto mechanic experience
- Farm equipment experience
- Small engine repair
- CDL A or B (medical card)
- Welding
- Skid steeri experience
- Equipment maintenance
- Construction background
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
