Responsibilities:
- Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and provide personalized recommendations
- Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed
- Assist the dentist during procedures, including preparing materials and instruments
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Skills:
- Proficient in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge related to oral health
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Open dental
- Knowledge of Epic electronic health record system is a plus
- Ability to assess patient needs and provide appropriate care
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages
- Detail-oriented with excellent manual dexterity for performing precise dental procedures
- Ability to take accurate vital signs and perform patient assessment
