Job Summary:
The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting the Director with planning, organizing, directing and overseeing the operations and services provided by the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Planning Department. The individual assists the Director with the oversight of the planning, creation, coordination and implementation of a Tribal comprehensive urban plan / master plan, the review of strategic planning projects, land development services and coordination and development of the Tribe’s annual Capital Improvement Plan. The incumbent assists with the supervision of professional staff to include all areas of planning, inclusive of commercial, industrial, and residential developments. The individual assists with the implementation of department policies, objectives and procedures; and ensures the development of programs or procedures necessary for compiling and analyzing data which helps evaluate the potential cost/benefit of current and future development projects for the Tribal community.
Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in Planning, Urban Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering or similarly related field is required. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of seven (7) years of professional related experience working in urban planning, city-municipal planning, civil engineering, land development, or related field. Supervisory experience is required. The applicant must possess at least one (1) of the following certifications: American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP); American Planning Association (APA) or State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE). Knowledge of principles and practices of community development design, urban planning, and economic development laws and regulations is required. Preferred experience supporting Digital Twin, GIS, BIM, or other-data-driven planning technologies, including geospatial data modeling, 3D visualization, spatial analysis, and integration of planning, infrastructure, or asset management datasets. Familiarity with GIS-BIM interoperability, enterprise data governance, digital modeling standards, and the application of Digital Twin technologies for scenario planning, forecasting, and infrastructure analysis is highly desirable. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing a wide variety of software packages including AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and databases. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Ability to travel locally/nationally and to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
