Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Communications Technician to join our team and support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems. This role is vital in ensuring the seamless operation of fiber optic networks, telecommunications infrastructure, and related outdoor plant operations. Responsibilities
- Install, test, and maintain fiber optic systems and telecommunications network cables in outdoor environments, adhering to industry standards.
- Perform telecommunications cable splicing, fiber splicing, and interpret technical drawings for accurate installation and troubleshooting.
- Use diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify issues within fiber optic networks, LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network), Ethernet, and telephony systems.
- Conduct telecommunications outside plant operations, including cable pulling, and splicing.
- Support engineering troubleshooting efforts by diagnosing network problems and providing technical troubleshooting support.
- Maintain detailed records of cabling installations, repairs, and inspections.
- Collaborate with team members to interpret technical drawings and schematics for complex network infrastructure projects.
- Assist with fiber optic network upgrades or expansions by installing new cables and testing system performance.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic cables, fiber splicing techniques, and telecommunications testing equipment.
- Hands-on experience with telecommunications outside plant operations..
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting documents related to fiber optic networks and LAN/WAN infrastructure.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools for troubleshooting fiber optic systems and network issues.
- Construction experience in outdoor environments with a focus on telecommunications or IT infrastructure projects.
- Excellent technical proficiency in telecommunication systems such as telephony, Ethernet networks, and fiber optic communications.
- Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills to support technical troubleshooting efforts effectively within a team environment.
