Infection Prevention Nurse
THRYVE Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Infection Prevention Nurse to support infection control initiatives across our skilled nursing facilities. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention programs to ensure the safety of residents, staff, and visitors while maintaining full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain the facility’s infection prevention and control program
Conduct surveillance of infections, outbreaks, and trends; analyze data and implement corrective actions
Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate response and reporting efforts
Ensure compliance with CMS, CDC, and state health department regulations
Provide education and training to staff on infection control practices, PPE, and isolation protocols
Perform audits and observations to ensure adherence to infection prevention standards
Collaborate with clinical leadership and interdisciplinary teams to reduce infection rates and improve outcomes
Maintain accurate documentation and prepare infection control reports for leadership
Stay current on evidence-based infection prevention guidelines and best practices
Qualifications:
Active RN license in Illinois
2+ years of nursing experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or acute care preferred
Infection Control Certification (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain
Strong knowledge of infection prevention principles and regulatory requirements
Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills
Ability to educate and influence clinical teams
