The Assistant Principal plays a vital role as a collaborative leader within our educational community. By working closely with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community stakeholders, this position facilitates instructional excellence, supports student growth, and positively contributes to the school's daily operations. Qualifications:
- Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Supervision or equivalent required.
- Valid State of Michigan administrative certification.
- Valid State of Michigan teacher certification.
- Minimum of five years of successful educational experience, including at least two years in administration.
- Proven ability and enthusiasm for working collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in managing school operations and fostering student achievement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of Common Core State Standards and district curricula across all subjects to ensure college and career readiness.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating the school improvement plan aligned with the district’s vision and performance indicators.
- Supervise instructional programs and evaluate both instructional and non-instructional staff effectively.
- Manage student discipline, ensuring adherence to the Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the Student/Parent Handbook.
- Provide targeted support to teachers, including assistance with instructional planning, classroom management, and student assessments.
- Oversee and coordinate auxiliary services, including Social Workers, Psychologists, and Transportation staff.
- Facilitate professional development to enhance instructional quality and implement research-based teaching strategies, including strategies for students with special needs.
- Utilize student data analysis to monitor academic performance, drive instruction, and inform strategic decisions.
- Coordinate the selection and procurement of instructional materials in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum.
- Develop proactive interventions and innovative strategies for students displaying at-risk behaviors.
- Oversee daily operational responsibilities including budgeting, scheduling, record-keeping, supplies management, and substitute teacher coordination.
- Direct lunchroom supervision to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Engage actively with parents and the wider community, promoting their involvement in school initiatives and programs.
- Attend and lead various school and district events, including graduation, extracurricular activities, athletic events, and district meetings as necessary.
- Represent the Principal at monthly Board of Directors and Saginaw Valley State University meetings as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Chief Executive Officer.
