Job Summary
The Binder / Print Finishing Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining bindery and finishing equipment to complete printed materials according to job specifications. This role ensures high-quality final products through cutting, folding, binding, and packaging printed materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate bindery and finishing equipment such as:
- Paper cutters/guillotines
- Folding machines
- Perfect binders
- Laminators
- Read and interpret job tickets and production specifications.
- Set up machines according to job requirements.
- Monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Inspect finished products for quality standards and correct defects.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Maintain production records and report issues to supervisors.
- Follow workplace safety guidelines and procedures.
- Package finished products for delivery or shipment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in print finishing or bindery operations (preferred).
- Knowledge of printing and finishing processes.
- Ability to read job specifications and measurements accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing or print production environment.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Exposure to noise from machinery.
- Shift work may be required (including evenings or weekends).
