Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation to promote independence and well-being.
- Support clients during community outings, ensuring safe transportation using standard passenger cars and providing personal transportation assistance when needed.
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs, fostering positive behavior and social skills development.
- Monitor consumer progress and document observations related to behavior, skill development, and overall health in detailed reports.
- Administer medication following prescribed protocols when required, maintaining accurate records in compliance with safety standards.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or behavioral challenges with first aid or CPR if necessary, ensuring safety at all times.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Able to provide proof of high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities is preferred but NOT required.
- Knowledge of special education principles, behavior management techniques, and behavioral health practices.
- Background in home & community care or caregiving roles supporting individuals with cognitive disabilities.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and assisting clients with ADLs is advantageous.
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience, adaptability, and excellent interpersonal skills to foster trusting relationships.
