LeBrun Management Solutions is seeking a Senior Flight Test Engineer to plan, lead, execute, and evaluate developmental flight testing of manned military aircraft and associated mission systems. The successful candidate will translate operational and technical requirements into safe, executable test objectives and produce reports or objective evidence supporting airworthiness, system performance, operational suitability, and acquisition decisions.
This position requires direct participation in flight-test operations, including duties aboard military aircraft when necessary. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the FAA Class III Medical Certificate, or other flight medical qualification designated by the applicable government authority, required to perform assigned flying duties.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of flight-test strategies, test plans, test matrices, test cards, safety packages, and technical reports.
- Translate system requirements and mission needs into measurable test objectives, evaluation criteria, data requirements, and success criteria.
- Plan and conduct developmental flight tests of aircraft, avionics, mission systems, sensors, communications, navigation, survivability systems, software, and related subsystems.
- Serve as a flight-test crew member aboard military aircraft when required.
- Coordinate test activities with pilots, aircrew, flight-test engineers, discipline engineers, maintainers, range personnel, safety organizations, contractors, program offices, and operational users.
- Identify test hazards and support technical and operational risk assessments, test-safety reviews, airworthiness reviews, and flight-test readiness reviews.
- Develop flight profiles, test points, buildup approaches, maneuver sequences, data collection requirements, and real-time decision criteria.
- Monitor aircraft and system performance during ground and flight-test missions and advise the Test Conductor and aircrew regarding test progression, anomalies, limitations, and termination criteria.
- Analyze telemetry, aircraft-bus data, instrumentation data, mission-system logs, video, aircrew observations, and other quantitative and qualitative evidence.
- Evaluate test results against technical requirements, measures of performance, measures of effectiveness, and mission-based evaluation criteria.
- Investigate anomalies, determine technical and operational significance, and coordinate corrective actions and regression testing.
- Prepare test reports, quick-look assessments, deficiency documentation, executive briefings, and recommendations supporting program decisions.
- Ensure test activities comply with applicable Department of Defense, Service, airworthiness, range-safety, configuration-management, and flight-test requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the improvement of organizational flight-test processes, tools, and technical standards.
- Support temporary-duty flight-test operations as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, systems, computer engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, including at least 5 years supporting flight test, aircraft integration, avionics test, or military aviation programs.
- Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and reporting manned-aircraft flight tests.
- Experience developing test plans, test cards, test procedures, safety documentation, data requirements, and technical test reports.
- Working knowledge of flight-test methods, aircraft performance, avionics or mission systems, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Ability to interpret system requirements, interface-control documents, technical orders, aircraft limitations, airworthiness artifacts, and engineering data.
- Demonstrated ability to identify flight-test hazards and apply disciplined risk-management and test-buildup principles.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, briefing, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with military aircrew, government customers, contractors, engineers, maintainers, and operational users.
- Ability and willingness to fly aboard military aircraft while performing assigned test duties.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a military FAA Class III Medical Certificate medical qualification, or the equivalent medical qualification required by the responsible government flight authority.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Government security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship, as required for access to classified information and military facilities.
- Ability to travel and work nonstandard hours during active test periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized military or civilian test pilot school as a Flight Test Engineer.
- Master’s degree in engineering, aviation, systems engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Department of Defense developmental test and evaluation, operational test and evaluation, or combined DT/OT.
- Experience with C-130, C-17, and C-5.
- Experience testing integrated avionics, mission-management systems, electronic warfare systems, communications, sensors, navigation systems, weapons interfaces, or aircraft software.
- Familiarity with digital data-bus architectures, telemetry systems, instrumentation packages, time-space-position information, and flight-test data-analysis tools.
- Knowledge of military airworthiness, configuration management, cybersecurity, software assurance, and system-safety processes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary test teams and presenting technical findings to senior government or acquisition officials.
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Current military Flying Class III qualification or equivalent flight medical clearance.
Physical and Operational Requirements
The position may require work in aircraft, on flight lines, and in hangar, range, or deployed operating environments. The employee must be capable of safely entering, exiting, and operating within the assigned aircraft; wearing required flight and protective equipment; communicating effectively in high-noise environments; and performing assigned flight duties for the duration of test missions.
Medical qualification will be administered under the standards and procedures established by the responsible military or government flight authority. Any required medical examination should be completed at the appropriate stage of the hiring and assignment process and applied consistently with applicable law.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a combination of office, laboratory, hangar, flight-line, aircraft, test-range, and deployed environments. Flight-test operations may involve elevated noise, vibration, temperature extremes, confined workspaces, irregular schedules, and mission-related travel.
