We are looking to hire a Departmental Manager for our growing thermoforming operation. We are a plastic processing/manufacturing firm in Girard, KS. We do custom plastic processing and also produce our own proprietary products. This is a great opportunity for either an experienced production manager or for a person with good manufacturing experience and supervisory skills. This position is to replace the current manager who is retiring. Experience and knowledge of thermoforming is desired but not required. Training and an extended transition period is planned. We are seeking someone who can learn and wants to guide and lead others. Supervising and scheduling work loads are primary tasks. Coordinating and working with other production areas is essential. Knowledge of production and inventory management systems, processes, and terminology will be useful and valued. Experience with manufacturing plastic parts and an operational knowledge of plastic processing equipment and materials will be a big plus. Responsibilities include oversight of daily departmental operations, new product development, coordinating production to meet changing customer demands and schedules, and driving continuous improvement in our processes, tooling, and personnel. We are a relatively small business, so the ability and willingness to work directly in the production area is very important. The ability to observe, assess, and improve production efficiency and work place cooperation will be the keys to success.
