This job posting is for a Production Operator in our Remanufacturing Department. This is an afternoon shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm) with training on days (7:00am - 3:30pm). Pay is BOE.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and operate processes in the remanufacturing department
- Manage batch tickets and Deacom data entry for batch ticket postings and safely operate equipment to complete order / batch
- Perform material off-loading, handling, processing, and loading processes
- Ensure security of plant for weekend shutdown
- Work area cleanup and maintenance integrating Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles to continuously improve cleanliness and appearance of work areas
- Routine equipment inspection and minor repair / maintenance
- Utilize Kanban principles to prevent unnecessary buildup of inventories in work areas; continuously strive to minimize inventory levels of all materials.
- Focus on continuous improvement, and communicate improvement ideas on a frequent basis to fuels supervisor
- Work smoothly with personnel from other departments, including laboratory, health and safety, other production departments, management, and all other employees of Gage.
- Remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious findings to area supervisors
- Operate plant vehicles, including hi-lo’s, drum pickers/squeezers, and yard switchers
- Maintain a positive and optimistic attitude
QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience):
- Ability to interact with a computer on a frequent basis
- Basic math skills (high school level)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Leadership, communication, problem solving and decision making skills
- Self-motivated, must be able to function without direct supervision
- Chemical and hazardous material handling skills helpful
- Required to operate yard switcher and fork truck
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Climb ladders
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Able to work in the outdoors for extended periods of time
- Able to wear an air purifying respirator and other safety equipment
- Able to drive powered industrial vehicles such as fork lifts
