Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and detail-oriented Powersports Mechanic to join our growing team. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, maintain, and service a wide variety of off-road powersports vehicles, ensuring every customer receives safe, reliable, and high-quality workmanship. You will primarily work on UTVs, Side-by-Sides (SXS), ATVs, golf carts, and utility vehicles, helping keep customers on the trail and at work with confidence. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical abilities and advanced electrical diagnostic skills, with the ability to efficiently troubleshoot complex wiring and electronic system issues.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and complete diagnostic evaluations on UTVs, Side-by-Sides, ATVs, golf carts, and utility vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, drivetrain, differential, suspension, steering, braking, cooling, fuel, and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues, including wiring harnesses, charging systems, starters, alternators, sensors, relays, switches, control modules, and accessory wiring using multimeters, scan tools, and manufacturer diagnostic software.
- Diagnose CAN-Bus communication faults and electrical failures efficiently and accurately.
- Perform engine repairs, transmission service, differential rebuilds, clutch replacements, axle repairs, suspension repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Install OEM and aftermarket accessories including lift kits, wheels and tires, roofs, windshields, lighting, winches, sound systems, bumpers, skid plates, GPS units, and other performance or utility upgrades.
- Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, technical bulletins, and manufacturer repair procedures.
- Complete warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer standards and documentation requirements.
- Accurately document diagnostics, repairs, labor times, and parts used through the shop management system.
- Perform operational testing before and after repairs to ensure proper functionality and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.
- Assist service advisors by providing accurate repair recommendations and maintenance needs.
- Stay current with manufacturer training, service updates, and emerging vehicle technologies.
- Work collaboratively with the service team to maximize efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Powersports Mechanic, UTV/SXS Technician, ATV Technician, or similar off-road vehicle mechanic.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting is required. Candidates must be able to confidently diagnose wiring faults, electrical shorts, charging system failures, communication issues, and other complex electrical problems.
- Strong knowledge of gasoline engines, CVT systems, differentials, drivetrains, suspension, steering, braking systems, fuel injection, and electronic control systems.
- Experience using diagnostic software, scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes (preferred), and other electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues quickly and accurately.
- Skilled in reading wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation.
- Experience performing accessory installations and custom electrical wiring is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with brands such as Polaris, Can-Am, CFMOTO, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, and Tracker Off Road is highly desirable.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to safely operate off-road vehicles.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Manufacturer certifications or technical training are preferred but not required.
