About the Role
A nationally recognized financial institution is seeking an experienced Manager of Special Loans & Payoffs to lead a team responsible for mortgage payoff processing, lien releases, and loan modifications. This role demands deep operational knowledge, leadership finesse, and a passion for accuracy and compliance.
You’ll oversee a team managing the full payoff lifecycle — from statement preparation to recording releases — while ensuring all billing and servicing updates are completed efficiently and in full regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and mentor a team handling mortgage payoffs, lien releases, and borrower billing.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payoff statements, payment allocations, and lien satisfactions.
- Manage monthly billing cycles, interest rate adjustments, and loan modifications.
- Oversee loan reconstruction, residency verification, and UCC maintenance processes.
- Partner with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and streamline workflows.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable servicing and consumer protection regulations (RESPA, UDAP, CFPB, SCRA).
- Develop and implement departmental goals, KPIs, and staff development plans.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in mortgage loan servicing with deep payoff and lien satisfaction experience.
- 5+ years in a leadership role managing direct reports.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Expertise in loan servicing systems, cashiering, and payoff procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel and Word).
- Excellent organizational, coaching, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
