Our Kumon Math and Reading Center is looking for a Center Assistant and Grader! This after-school learning program assists students ranging from PK through High school in individualized math and reading studies, with one of our primary goals being to foster self-learning within our students. Some elements of this goal are to 1) develop knowledge of the Kumon method and worksheets, 2) guide and encourage students and 3) grade classwork and homework in order to assess each student’s abilities as they continue their journey with us.
What we are looking for in a Center Assistant is someone who is proactive, enthusiastic, patient, able to multi-task, tolerant, receptive to feedback, friendly and has positive energy.
Center Assistant:
- Working efficiently and effectively with one or two younger or new Kumon students at a time to provide instruction through utilization of the Kumon Method and worksheets
- Ensure proper study habits and work skills are being developed and train the students in center routine
- Individualizing strategies for student development based on student goals and communication with Instructor
- On-going assessment of student skills development
- Work closely with Instructor to develop and understand lesson plan and goals for each student in order to properly administer instruction individually
Grader:
- Grading of student classwork, homework, and corrections and organizing of Student worksheets
- Ensuring Student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%
- Assessing oral reading ability with reading students and providing necessary feedback
- Provide assistance/guidance to students, as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards and center procedures
- Provide Instructor with written or verbal feedback, as needed, based on student observations and/or student performance on worksheets
- Work with other grading assistants to create a balanced workload to ensure grading is completed before the end of class
- Prepare student files
Must be consistently available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 2:00pm-6:30pm. Earlier shift starts available at 10:30am and 12:00pm. 3x per week minimum required. Applicants with 4-5x per week availability will be favored. Tasks outside of class hours may be required upon need. Minors begin at $15.56/hour for first 160 hours.
No experience with children necessary, but is welcomed and highly encouraged! Background check mandatory for those interested in applying. Training will be included.
