Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Mechanic to join our dynamic construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring all equipment functions safely and efficiently on construction sites. Your expertise will help drive project success by maintaining high standards of safety, precision, and productivity. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar equipment to perform excavation, grading, and utility work in compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Perform construction utility work including utility locating, trenching, and site preparation activities.
- Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist with construction site setup, including site grading and preparing the area for subsequent phases of the project.
- Drive commercial trucks as needed for transporting equipment or materials between sites while adhering to all commercial driving regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and safety inspections to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and similar equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Construction site experience with familiarity in excavation, grading, utility work, and general construction activities.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred.
- Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety regulations at all times.
- Ability to operate loaders, excavators (including Caterpillar models), backhoes, and other construction machinery confidently and safely.
- Skilled in construction utility work such as utility locating and trenching.
- Excellent understanding of equipment safety procedures and maintenance protocols necessary for safe operation on busy job sites.
