PM SHIFTS AND WEEKENDS ARE A MUST!
JOB TITLE: Houseman
LOCATION: New Paltz Way Hotel, 11 Water Street, New Paltz, NY 12561
SUMMARY: We are seeking friendly and service-oriented housemen to join the opening team at our boutique hotel, New Paltz Way Hotel. As a Houseman you will be responsible for ensuring guest rooms and common areas are impeccably cleaned, maintained, and foster a positive guest experience.
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
- Assist room attendants with stripping beds, removing trash, and preparing rooms for cleaning
- Deliver clean linens, towels, and supplies to guest rooms and storage areas
- Restock housekeeping caddies, storage areas and closets throughout shifts
- Pick up and organize dirty linens for laundry
- Clean and maintain lobby, hallways, stairwells, and other common areas
- Ensure public restrooms are clean, stocked, and presentable at all times
- Monitor and tidy outdoor areas (entryways, patios, etc.) as needed
- Respond promptly to guest requests (extra towels, pillows, amenities)
- Assist with luggage when needed
- Regularly monitor and clean the spa and fitness center, including but not limited to replenishment of amenities, washing towels, bathrobes and slippers.
- Provide friendly, professional interaction with guests at all times
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to management
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks (light bulb replacement, minor fixes)
- Support laundry, housekeeping and maintenance operations
- Help with room inspections or deep cleaning projects
SPECIFIC TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Previous maintenance or housemen, experience preferred (hotel experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Physical ability to lift, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods
- Friendly and professional demeanor
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
SUCCESS INDICATORS:
- Daily presentation of the accommodations and properties as a whole
- Minimal guest complaints related to rooms, grounds and property cleanliness
RELATIONSHIPS & REPORTING:
- Reports to the Assistant Hotel Manager/General Manager
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
