The Opportunity We are looking for a skilled, reliable Diesel Mechanic / Diesel Technician to join our team in Uhland, TX. This is a hands-on, full-time role for an experienced truck mechanic who loves troubleshooting heavy iron and takes pride in keeping a fleet safe and road-ready. You won't just be doing basic oil changes here—you will be the main point of contact for our Class 8 fleet, handling everything from engine diagnostics and electrical troubleshooting to hydraulic repairs and brake certifications. Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities
- Run Computer Diagnostics: Use standard plug-in software to read fault codes, check engine sensors, and trace electrical issues across starters, alternators, and wiring harnesses on Cummins and Paccar engines.
- Fix Engines & Powertrains: Diagnose and repair major Class 8 truck components, including diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and drive shafts.
- Overhaul Steering, HVAC & Suspension: Inspect and repair heavy-duty steering gears, suspension parts, cooling systems, and commercial truck cab AC units.
- Maintain Heavy Hydraulics: Service and repair the high-pressure hydraulic pumps, lines, and valves that operate our concrete mixer drums and bulk equipment.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance (PMs): Handle routine inspections, grease jobs, oil changes, fluid top-offs, and track wear and tear to prevent breakdowns.
- Certify Air & Hydraulic Brakes: Inspect, adjust, and repair commercial brake systems in strict compliance with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) safety rules.
- Keep Shop Organized & Safe: Maintain a clean, organized personal work bay and safely dispose of all shop fluids in line with standard safety codes.
Diesel Mechanic Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 1 year of solid experience working as a diesel mechanic or truck technician
- Tools: You must own a complete personal set of hand tools and basic air tools suitable for heavy-duty truck repair.
- Diagnostic Skills: Real experience navigating truck diagnostic software (like Cummins Insite or Paccar tools), reading basic wiring diagrams, and tracking hydraulic flows.
- The Right Attitude: A reliable, self-motivated worker who communicates clearly, manages their time well on different repair orders, and keeps safety first.
- A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A or CDL-B) or formal diesel tech school training is a big plus, but not required.
