Our client is located in Morgantown, PA, is a growing OEM of highly automated equipment; their saws and fabrication products are used by the best manufacturers for sawing and fabricating construction steel, profiles and pipes. The asked us to partner with them and find a Technical Service and Parts Manager to lead their service organization. This position reports directly to the President and serves as the primary technical leader for all customer service operations throughout North America.
The Technical Service & Parts Manager is responsible for leading the technical service, field service, remote support, spare parts, and customer service administration functions. This individual serves as the organization's highest-level technical resource and will lead the resolution of complex machine, warranty, installation, and emergency service situations.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring extensive experience with industrial machinery, machine tools, automated equipment, PLC-based control systems, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and customer support operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately 6-7 Field Service Engineers, 2-3 Technical Service Engineers, 2 Spare Parts Specialists, and a Customer Service Administrator. The ideal candidate will function as the "Lead Service Engineer" while simultaneously developing the people, systems, and processes necessary to support future company growth. Travel of approximately 25% is expected.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
- 7-10+ years of experience supporting industrial machinery, machine tools, capital equipment, or highly automated manufacturing systems.
- 3-5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience within a service organization preferred.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation and controls technologies.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLC-based control systems.
- Ability to navigate and diagnose issues through HMI systems.
- Experience with servo motor systems, servo drives, VFDs, motors, encoders, and motion control applications.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting abilities involving control panels, electrical enclosures, sensors, relays, contactors, safety devices, and industrial communication networks.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting experience involving: Ball screws, Linear motion systems, Bearings, Gearboxes, Hydraulic systems, Pneumatic systems, Machine alignments, Mechanical assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret: Electrical schematics, Mechanical drawings, Hydraulic schematics, Pneumatic diagrams, PLC logic documentation
- Experience supporting machine installations, startup activities, warranty situations, and field service operations.
