Title: Assistant Summer Camp Director
Department: Special Programs Supervisor: Summer Camp Director
Status: Seasonal/Hourly/Non-Exempt
Education: High School Diploma required; College degree preferred; Preferably two or more years of experience in Childhood and Youth Development
Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting with the successful coordination of the Camden County PSA Summer Camp Program
Essential Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assist the Summer Camp Director with the efficient and effective day-to-day operations of the summer camp program
- Assist with daily activities, special events, and field trips

Assist with the training, supervision, and evaluation of the seasonal staff of the Summer Camp Program, i.e., Lead Camp Counselors, and Camp Counselors

Assist Summer Camp Director to ensure compliance with all safety standards, health regulations, and licensing requirements

Assist Summer Camp Director to engage in risk management for all aspects of the summer camp program

Assist the Summer Camp Director with camp budget, expenditures, and purchasing of supplies

Communicate effectively with parents, guardians and the community, including addressing concerns promptly

Assist with marketing efforts to promote camp registration, including creating content for social media and brochures

Assist with the management of inventories of equipment and supplies for summer camp

Monitor the changing context within which the camp’s programs and services are provided

Work collaboratively with camper families to build relationships and ensure high level support of campers

Working Environment: Typically works in an indoor environment; some work will be completed in an office while; other work will be in large open areas inside the facility; some work may be outside during summer conditions
Physical Requirements: Ability to work varying hours depending on summer camp scheduling requirements; Will be required to work in varying weather conditions, sun, heat, rain; Must be able to move around the camp, including walking, running, standing, and lifting equipment.
