Mold Maintenance Technician (All shifts)
1st shift- 7:00am-3:30pm
2nd shift- 3:20pm-11:50pm
Hybrid shift- 8:50pm-5:20am
Job Summary
Repairs and maintains Injection Molding tools, machinery and facility by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understands and practices safe working procedures. Uses personal protective equipment with lockout/isolation procedures as required. Understands the specific environmental aspects and impact of maintenance duties and work toward reducing them.
- Ability to communicate openly and clearly with fellow associates. Read or write and understand specific work instructions and procedures. Understands and practices sharing information with others.
- Use of hands and power tools to expedite repairs, installation, and maintenance of plant equipment.
- Use overhead crane in safe manner to transport tools.
- Use of shop power machinery, lathes, milling machines, saws, dills and grinders.
- Perform seasonal duties outside of buildings such as snow removal around overhead doors.
- Ability to select and identify correct fasteners to install various materials and plant equipment.
- Performs clean up involving dust, dirt, grease and oil around machines as assigned.
- Assist trade persons with equipment relocations and installations.
- Disassemble & assemble injection molding tools.
- Inspect all components of tools and repair/replace defective components.
- Clean tool (inside/outside) and lubricate using proper
- Minor repairs of tools as directed by tooling specialist
- Lubricate injection mold machines, as per manual requirements.
- Keep mold maintenance area clean, organized, and safe for work at all times.
- Keep chains, slings and eye bolts organized and ensure safe for use.
- Order replacement parts for mold maintenance shop including crane.
- Assist in injection molding machine repairs
- Assist in takeout devices repairs
- Assist with feeding system maintenance and repairs
- Fill out documentation required for mold maintenance job.
- Assist to troubleshoot pneumatic systems including valves, regulators, filters, and actuators.
- Assist to troubleshoot hydraulic systems including valves, pumps, filter/strainers, flow control.
- Complete PM work orders of equipment to manufacturer’s recommendations or PM guide and provide feedback on activities and changes to improve the service or equipment.
- Perform other mold maintenance related duties as assigned to meet departmental responsibilities.

Physical Effort and Requirements of this Position
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as; safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Abilities
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to assist with troubleshooting problem areas and to recognize and initiate corrective action or advise others of needed actions as well as recommending suggestions for improvements.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles’ outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
