Job Summary: The Operator is responsible for driving and operating both vacuum trucks and combination trucks to best serve our customers and provide them with the best quality of service possible. The ideal candidate for this role is a leader with good communication skills and high level of understanding of the utility maintenance field including services like hydro excavation, jet/vac cleaning, televising of pipes, and more. The role includes loading and unloading equipment, maintaining cleanliness and organization on job sites, and performing manual labor duties such as bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, digging, lifting, and carrying materials. This position requires a person to lift 5-50 pounds multiple times per day and move or slide 200 pound lids. Most of this work is done outside and requires a sharp and constant attention span, scanning both your personal surroundings and the surroundings of others. This job requires someone to safely use hand tools and assist with operating heavy machinery.
Purpose of Position: Contribute to the achievement of performance targets for customer satisfaction and safety according to Fluid Waste Services standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate both vacuum and combo units in a safe, responsible, and professional manner.
Follow and comply with all laws, company policies / procedures, and customer rules / regulations.
Always utilize proper PPE as required by the company, DOT, OSHA, and customer regulations.
Report all incidents, accidents, near misses, and injuries involving employee(s) or other personnel immediately to the Safety Manager.
Completely understand scope of work and get all necessary equipment before heading to the jobsite.
Conduct pre-truck inspection and complete truck checkout daily before operating any truck.
Complete all pre-job hazard assessments (JAs) and address any safety issues prior to commencing any job.
Participate, with the rest of the crew, in the entire setup of the job.
Ability to communicate effectively with other employee(s), customer(s), dispatcher and supervisors throughout any job or project.
Utilize all required equipment during the job in a safe and efficient manner; handle routine maintenance issues on equipment as needed.
Responsible for loading, transporting, and offloading of materials/waste at different and/or designated pre-approved disposal site locations.
Share in the responsibility of tearing down the entire job as a crew in all aspects, which includes vacuum and combo trucks related duties.
Ensure proper cleanup and housekeeping of the jobsite upon job completion.
Complete job tasks with personal and public safety as the top priority, and quality as the number two priority.
Complete/submit all waste disposal tickets and all other required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
Help to maintain positive customer relations for the company and assure customer satisfaction.
Assist in cross training new(er) employees on proper operation of the vacuum and combo trucks; and any other equipment being utilized on the job.
Able to pass all required training, customer required background checks, and any random drug & alcohol testing.
General Responsibilities:
Attend Toolbox Safety Meetings on Monday Mornings.
Attend Friday Recap Meetings (if not scheduled for an early job).
Foster a "team approach" atmosphere; always display a positive, respectful, and professional attitude; contribute to the "continuous improvement" philosophy; perform other duties as deemed necessary.
Obey all traffic laws and regulations when operating and driving any company vehicle.
Troubleshoot equipment and make minor repairs/adjustments if operator has the knowledge to complete the task safely.
Perform On-Call duties and answers calls at night and weekends during designated On-Call week.
Properly notify Shop Manager of any equipment in need of repair and/or maintenance.
Clean and maintain all equipment upon return to the shop; return equipment and supplies to their designated storage locations at the end of the day.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick and sound decisions in emergency situations.
Refuel trucks and equipment up at the end of using it and leave trucks and equipment better than what they found it.
Conditions of employment:

Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
