At U. S. Steel’s Minnesota Ore Operations—home to two iron ore mines in Northern Minnesota—the Minntac Facility is hiring an Industrial Reliability Mechanic to strengthen our mechanical uptime in a heavy industrial environment.

Keep essential assets running for one of the world’s largest steel producers.

Apply your skill across plant areas that can be hot, cold, greasy, wet, dirty, and noisy.

Use standard and specialized tools, including pendant and overhead cranes and forklifts.

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment and systems: hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, conveyors, cranes, and mobile equipment.

Assist operations as needed to support continuous production.

Perform work at heights and/or within confined spaces.

Work independently with minimal supervision, and partner with fellow maintenance technicians when the task calls for it.

Minimum 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant military service) or equivalent education. Applicable experience may include hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, welding, pipe-fitting, structural repair, and diesel mechanic.

High School Diploma or GED.

Rotating shifts required, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Overtime as needed.

Strict adherence to safety practices and PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, and boots with metatarsal protection.

Demonstrated punctuality, consistent attendance, and self-direction.

Pay: $42.56/hr.
