ProScan Imaging is seeking a full-time, Payment Posting Specialist at our Midtown location.
General Description: Handle the day-to-day processing of payments, including reconciling explanation of benefits (EOBs) and electronic remittance advices (ERAs), and ensuring timely accurate billing practices. Processing insurance and patient credit card payments and refunds. Operate in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department’s division, in line with the Mission and Vision of the organization. Perform as an ambassador for ProScan while cultivating a nurturing atmosphere of courtesy, respect, responsibility, accountability, empathy, dignity and optimism.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct Duties
- Post and reconcile data from both paper EOBs and ERAs and ensure electronic deposits match payment totals.
- Identify line item denials for medical necessity, non-covered services, and prior authorization; report any trends to management to head off potential ongoing process errors in the billing cycle.
- Accurately moving balances to patient responsibility and ensuring prompt patient billing.
- Process write-offs and adjustments and investigate unusual contractual adjustments, moving them up the management chain if problematic trends are identified.
- Identify claims with secondary payers and process claims for any remaining balances.
- Processing insurance and patient credit card payments.
- Maintaining and processing patient and insurance refunds.
- Charge entry posting support and back-up.
- Various account balancing activities.
- Meet Posting and Collections goals.
- Participate in meetings when required.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
Experience:
- Medical office billing
- Posting of insurance and patient payments, including batch
reconciliation * Utilization of payer and clearinghouse websites to retrieve insurance
EOBs
- Basic PC skills; Centricity (GE) Practice Solutions and Revlink
Management Solutions experience a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and email
- Ability to relate to persons with diverse educational, socioeconomic,
and ethnic backgrounds * Ability to demonstrate good customer service.
- Ability to utilize computer, scanner/copier/fax machine
- Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
- Revenue Service Cycle knowledge, Local/State/Federal regulations
- Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, knowledge
- CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 knowledge/exposure
- Demonstrates attention to detail
- Works independently as well as in a team environment
