JOB
The City of Lansing's Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a Part Time Event Manager for the Turner Dodge House. This position will perform a wide range of office administration tasks and assist in providing coordination, project management, and staffing for events. As the Event Manager, you will also assist with developing and implementing comprehensive packages, City-wide interpretive programs and other special events including classes, tours, and outreach activities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS & TRAINING:
Hours: Work a minimum of 18 hours a week, with the ability to work up to 40 hours a week, depending on events scheduled.
This is a CONTRACT Position (temporary, part-time, and “at-will”) with the City of Lansing. It may be terminated by either the City or the Contract Employee at any time, with or without cause, upon written notice to the other party.
Contract will expire on June 30, 2027 (End of City of Lansing Fiscal Year), unless terminated earlier. Renewal of contract will be determined by Department Leadership.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:-
Bachelor's Degree in parks and recreation, event management or a related field

And one (1) year of experience in property management, recreational programming, fund raising, marketing and/or working with volunteer boards.

Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the City's driving record standard.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS INLCUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Develops and implements comprehensive event packages for the Turner Dodge House.

Assist with developing, promoting and implementing City-wide interpretative programs and other special programs including classes, tours, and outreach activities.

Provides coordination and project management for events at Turner Dodge House.

Assigns staffing and/or works all events for the Turner Dodge house, including set up, on site assistance, tear down and clean up.

Develops and implements a comprehensive marketing plan for the Turner Dodge House.

Conducts a wide range of planning activities including developing long and short-range goals and objectives, writing a wide range of monthly, seasonal and annual reports and procures all needed supplies for events.

Determines supply, equipment and program facility needs.

Attends a monthly volunteer board meetings

Performs wide range of office administration tasks including operating a personal computer and other office equipment, maintaining records and files, processing cash and credit receipts, and reconciling expenditures.

Selects, supervises and counsels contractual and volunteer employees, and maintains needed payroll records.

Performs wide range of public relations and marketing functions including giving television and radio interviews, developing brochures and other publicity material, and attending meetings of various arts and humanities organizations.

Develops, promotes and implements City-wide program and events at the Turner Dodge house.

Drives personal automobile to and from work sites as required.
